AI: The Competitive Edge for Every SME

AIKnowIT project

Project: AIKnowIT – Hub for AI and IT Knowledge and cooperation between universities and SMEs

The project is co-financed by the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2021-2027 through the European Regional Development Fund.

The project consortium aims to create a platform for cooperation between universities and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to enable knowledge exchange and strengthen connections, providing knowledge about the application possibilities of digital innovations, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity solutions in various industrial and business areas. The project partners (four universities) and an associated partner (Science and Technology Park) will seek to involve SMEs in seminars and to share insights on potential areas of collaboration between academia and business. The project will develop a toolkit for knowledge sharing between academia and business. The toolkit will consist of a research collaboration platform where researchers and companies could connect on research projects and share knowledge and possibly even resources; and an online knowledge-sharing platform, which may include forums or communities where industry experts and researchers can interact, share insights, discuss relevant topics and share good practices. By implementing these tools and collaboration opportunities, academia and business can improve by sharing knowledge, fostering innovation and creating mutual value. Such partnerships would facilitate knowledge exchange, joint efforts, internships and collaboration programmes. The activities could potentially develop into some kind of mentoring programmes. Such programmes would be initiatives that connect academics with business professionals to provide support and knowledge-sharing opportunities. A methodology to help SMEs identify which AI technologies are beneficial to them would be developed and proposed as a solution during the project, which could be adopted or scaled up by many organisations and companies in the South Baltic region.

The planned duration of the project is 18 months. Project start 2024-10-01. Project end 2026-02-28.
